Selva Printers and Training Center
SELVA Printers and Training Centre for differently abled children is an integral part of the St. Peter Paul Educational and Cultural Trust (SPECT). Since the establishment of this project in 2015, it has successfully trained over 65 disabled children in offset printing, desktop publishing (DTP), and graphic design skills, including proficiency in Adobe PageMaker, Photoshop, Corel Draw, and Dreamweaver. These graduates have secured positions in reputable printing presses and graphic design companies across the state. For those higher secondary school graduates who cannot pursue further education due to economic constraints, SPECT provides employment within its printing unit.
Currently, SPECT employs six disabled adults full-time in the printing press, where they play crucial roles in both training and commercial operations. The commercial unit of SELVA Printers operates a shop in the village, equipped with modern printing equipment to fulfil various market demands. They handle commercial orders such as invitations, flyers, handbills, flex banners, and multicolor printing projects, which serve as an income generation activity for SPECT.
To accommodate the increasing number of commercial orders, SPECT has recently established a second commercial unit specialising in flex printing. In this unit, young graphic designers take and design orders, which are then printed in a nearby town equipped with the necessary flex printing machines. This expansion not only meets the growing demand but also provides additional training and employment opportunities for differently abled individuals, further empowering them through skill development and economic independence.
